It will all be for his praise in the end. As it should be. About discipleship, I do think that people coming to Christ is just the beginning and that they do need to be discipled. I know that was not instilled in me and I am blessed to say the Lord took me under His wing to work with me himself because there wasn't a godly woman that did that intently in my life. Faithfulness to do this is an important job and we, the church, do need to take it more seriously. That is what Christ told us to do--make disciples, obedient followers that will do good works.
